Introducing Osirium PAM v7.0

Osirium PAM v7.0 – Making PAM Faster, Stronger, Simpler

Privileged Access Management (PAM) is, or should be, a critical part of any cybersecurity strategy. But two issues are often raised when considering PAM.

Firstly, traditional PAM tools can be complicated and slowdown everyday tasks. Secondly, PAM might be seen as a potential point of weakness. As all secure connections are routed via the PAM platform, the platform must be reliable. Unlike older PAM systems, Osirium has always prioritised ease of implementation and management in its PAM solution.

With the release of Osirium PAM v7.0, previously known as the PXM Platform, that leadership is extended in two significant ways.

New PAM User Interface

Ease of use has always been a defining attribute of Osirium Privileged Access Management solutions. To maintain this approach and further reduce any impact on users' workflows, Osirium PAM V7.0 introduces a new web browser-based user interface.

Devices List in the new PAM UI

The new user interface (UI) has multiple benefits. It starts with removing the need to install a client on every workstation. Being browser-based also makes it easier to grant secure, managed access to IT systems for external partners and third-parties.

It also becomes much easier to use, and reduces the time needed to become productive. Based on extensive research with existing customers, the PAM UI was designed to streamline privileged operations.

Now, whether the service or device is accessed via terminal connections (e.g. SSH), mapped applications (remote application windows), or privileged tasks, they are all accessed from within the browser UI.

See the new UI in action in this video:

The new UI also shares common styles with the other parts of Osirium Privileged Access Security (PAS) suite - Privileged Process Automation (PPA) and Privileged Endpoint Management (PEM) for a consistent PAS environment– to simplify the use of multiple parts of the solution.

High-Availability PAM

Osirium PAM has always offered solutions to ensure high-availability of the PAM service. They range from underlying support in the platform, such as VMware Fault Tolerance, through to "mesh" PAM server configuration.

With v7.0, PAM goes even further. It introduces "clustering" support to group multiple PAM servers into a manageable unit. The result is that even if one server becomes unavailable, perhaps because of a hardware failure, alternative servers are automatically available, ready for use. The user can continue to work with little or no interruption.

Importantly, there is no need for complex supporting technology. For example, there's no requirement for expensive high-availability databases. As it's a standard part of the product, there are no additional licensing or costs to worry about. You can find out more about the high availability options with Osirium PAM in this video:

High-availability environments always need planning for maximum benefit. Osirium experts are available to discuss the architecture options in free workshops.
